Position Responsibilities
Deltek is looking for a Sr. Cloud Database Administrator to join its Global Cloud Organization. As a Sr. Cloud Database Administrator, you will join the team responsible for operations and continuous improvement across tens of thousands of databases and hundreds of database servers, serving all of Deltek products globally. As part of the database administration team, you gonna work closely with Architecture and Delivery as well as Engineering and Product teams to ensure that our database servers are operating to their peak capabilities and to ensure the customers are having a fantastic customer experience. The role will require being familiar with ORACLE and Microsoft SQL Server database engines, T-SQL & PL/SQL, experience with public cloud providers such as AWS and AZURE prepared.
Implement and manage database server deployments including the following:
ORACLE and MS SQL Server installation and upgrades
Configure and manage Data Guard, Always-On High Availability, Disaster Recovery
Responsible for planning, administration, security and utilization of processes or procedures relating to the overall management and maintenance of the database.
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues and provide problem resolution.
Provide assistance analyzing database server capacity and recommendations for future capacity requirements.
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members. Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours and weekend.
Qualifications
Computer Science/Engineering Degree (or Computer Science Masters)
7+ years of experience in ORACLE 12c/19c
5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017
High level of attention to details and ability to work independently
Strong knowledge in T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, stored procedures (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle)
Strong experience working with DataGuard, DataPump, Always-On High Availability Groups and Clustering
General knowledge on Linux and Windows Operating Systems
Enthusiastic, collaborative, autonomous, highly analytical mind-set and proactive role
Customer service skills, persuasive/assertive while maintaining a professional demeanor
Experience in a large-scale hosting environment preferred
Experience with AWS & AZURE preferred
Experience in a 24X7 production environment
Must be flexible with having on call support, weekend work demands, and 24/7 rotation for supporting purposes
