Job Purpose
The Integrative Research Support Platform brings together the various research support and operational services across IRRI including the Software Development, Data management and Statistical Services (SDDMSS). The SDDMSS cluster works closely with Outcome Themes and Research Platforms to develop, test and release software applications that translate science into ICT (Information and Communications Technology). The cluster is also expected to support the standardization, capture, storage and curation of data in centralized and accessible IRRI databases and recommend and train data capture technologies.
This position will perform routine data management activities on the breeding management system, Breeding4Results (B4R), including the collation, validation, encoding, spot-checking and quality assurance testing, archiving and curation ensuring compliance to IRRI and Platform-specific policies, procedures and guidelines on data management, back up and uploading.
This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.
Roles and Responsibilities
Contribute to the development, deployment and monitoring of management processes ensuring best practices and adherence to set data standards
Serve as a subject matter expert on the field of experimental design and data analysis, as well as other statistics-related tasks within the data management team
Provide support and technical expertise to end-users who produce, manage and/or use phenotype experiment and / or seed inventory data through customer support services such as user trainings
Work closely with the clusters within Rice Breeding Platform to ensure that all phenotype experiment and seed inventory data is produced and managed in compliance of a project or platform level data standards and best practices
Respond to inquiries, provide basic technical advice and training on data management and utilization of B4R, electronic data capture, automated analysis and reporting to internal and external end-users (i.e. researchers and project partners)
Retrieve data from databases upon request ensuring accuracy at all times
Utilize tools for automated analysis and reporting of trial results
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, data management, or related field
Minimum of 4 years work experience in data management
Skills Required

Experience using a database management system such as MS Access
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good team player
Good attention to details
Preferred
Working knowledge and experience in SQL
Basic knowledge and experience in statistical design and analysis
Basic knowledge and understanding of Plant Breeding data and workflow
