Overview
We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Global Product Development team. The Solution Architect will analyze and formulate solution designs that advance the technology platforms implemented by engineering teams. In this role, the Solution Architect will also interact with engineering squads, product management, quality assurance, site reliability engineering, and other product teams, in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan, to evaluate, recommend and advise on solution designs in support of product development.
Job description and responsibilities
Analyze and document the solution architecture of significant Components of a Product for both external (High Level Design) and internal (Low Level Design) audience
Research and recommend technical solution options for feature increments on the Product roadmap
Develop solution prototypes and proofs of concept in aid of selection
Develop templates, tools and patterns to support reference implementations
Participate in and guide workshops for solution selection
Provide assessments through technical solution reviews for peers and Engineering teams on different Squads
Act as subject matter expert advising on solution architecture of Components of a Product in their scope
Collaborate with different Engineering Squads to support architectures that span multiple Components
Technologies and tools used at Quipper:
Language: Ruby, Golang, TypeScript, etc.
Framework: Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, etc.
Database: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis
Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Expertise
4+ years of experience in developing software applications
In-depth Proficient with at least one specific technology stack relevant to their Product
Proficient with software engineering and architecture concepts and principles
Proficient with technical writing, software design diagrams and modeling tools
Competencies
Ensure the technical solutions selected for the Components in their scope contribute to advancement towards the architectural vision
Able to identify focus areas for their own skill improvement and independently create a path to adopting new skills
Able to guide new Engineers on subjects within their expertise
Able to clearly explain and summarize technical aspects of issues and opportunities to a non-technical audience
Able to consider product and technology constraints and recommend new solution options to remove constraints
Motivates the Engineers of the Squads they assist to support selection of technical solutions that positively impact the Product
Able to context-switch effectively and work effectively in the Squad's practices as they regularly move from one Engineering Squad to another
Strong interpersonal, intrapersonal, and analytical skills
Strong oral and written English communication skills
