Test Automation Management
Assists QA Automation Manager in defining and maintaining the team's entire automation framework
Ensures that any additional work conforms to the automation framework.
Assists the QA Automation Manager in assessing gaps and improvement areas in the automation framework and its role in the whole SQA work process or infrastructure.
Works closely with QA Automation Manager in implementing test automation metrics and standards.
Works closely with QA Automation Manager in implementing automated tests that support various test strategies, data generation, and different testing types and platforms.
Test Planning
Works with team members to develop and consolidate the testing Level of Effort (LOEs) and testing scope.
Reviews and provides feedback on LOEs provided by team members.
Provides the QA Automation Manager with testing Level of Effort (LOEs) and testing scope on assigned tasks/automation requests.
Develops the test schedule and resource assignments for each project based on the requirements, LOEs, and test plan.
Test Script Development
Identifies tools that will be used for automating test cases for each project.
Submits this to the QA Automation Manager for approval.
Reviews existing automation framework.
Updates existing automation framework
Sets up test script development environment
Develops automated test scripts for assigned test cases following the prescribed development standards and best practices.
Test Automation Environment Setup
Reviews the test automation environments based on the test plan and Recommended System Requirements (RSR)
Reviews test data.
Test Script Execution
Executes assigned test scripts.
Investigates test script with fail results to determine if it is a product or a test script issue.
Updates test scripts to address test script issues.
Coordinates with the Development team for failed performance test results (based on standard performance metrics).
Test Automation Research and Development (R&D)
Identifies tasks done manually and assesses which processes can be automated.
Submits this to the QA Automation Manager for approval.
Research on different tools that can be used for automation and creates proof of concept (POC).
Advanced knowledge of test automation frameworks and best practices
Advanced knowledge of the different types of testing (e.g. Functional, Installation, Migration, Performance, Security, Responsive Testing, etc.)
Advanced knowledge of Test Automation Tools (e.g. JUnit Framework, Selenium IDE, WebDriver, Jmeter, Sikuli, JConsole, Katalon, Appium, Postman, GraphQL)
Advanced knowledge of Test Management tools (e.g. Testlink, JIRA, Jenkins, Smartsheet)
Advanced knowledge of different testing platforms (e.g. Desktop, Mobile, Browser)
Advanced knowledge of Remote Server Management tools (e.g. PuTTY, WinSCP, RDC)
Advanced knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Advanced knowledge of the different software development methodologies
Advanced knowledge of different Operating Systems (e.g. Windows and Linux)
Advanced knowledge of Databases and Database Management Tools (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Management Studio, pgAdmin, SQL Examiner, SQL Data Examiner)
Advanced knowledge of Programming Languages/Technologies (e.g. C++, Visual Basic, HTML, Java, C#, Ruby, RDBMS, Python, PERL)
Advanced knowledge of Cloud Computing (e.g. AWS, Azure)
