THE POSITION
Payroll and Tax SME is responsible for performing payroll and tax audits in accordance with company policy and related activities. The duties of this position also include, ensuring compliant, accurate and timely payroll and tax processing by providing guidance and assistance to the payroll and tax team for the US, ensures related payroll and tax related updates are fully tested and implemented in the payroll system, and will also be working in close collaboration with the HRIT, Ridgefield Retained Organization and various third-party vendors.
Tasks & responsibilities
Accountable for managing Payroll and Tax processes in line with the group wide HR service delivery model
Accountable for driving operational excellence within the Payroll and Tax teams for the execution of all related end to end processes for compliance.
Ensure the payroll cycle transactions are processed accurately and timely; payout and calculation of pay, loans, taxes and social insurance in a quickly changing legal environment. Also covering impats / expats.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls, as well as compliance with external laws and regulatory guidance
Responsible for vendor management (quality of work, evaluating performance) to strengthen relationship with payroll-provider for respective country to ensure the payroll cycle transactions are processed accurately and timely
Handles quarterly balancing, federal and state tax quarterly reconciliations and online filing
Conducts research, analysis, and resolution of Payroll Tax issues. Resolves different tax-related cases and corrections of employee's tax profiles
Year-end close coordination, preparation of W2's, and providing high quality customer service to all employees
Collaborates with the broader HR team to provide support, communication, and accurate information as required or requested to support HR and other functional areas of the business.
Requirements
7+ years payroll and tax experience performing all functions of payroll and tax
Advanced knowledge of payroll, payroll tax, tax reporting and tax correspondence at federal, state and local levels. With experience in processing end-to-end payroll using SAP.
Prefer experience with Payroll software systems such as SAP HR, ADP and MyServices ticketing tool.
Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office programs is required
Licensure or certification: CPP or FPC preferred
Ability to learn new applications and processes related to the configuration, calculation and assignment of taxes within the payroll process
Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
Excellent problem-solving skills along with keen attention to details
Strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong client relationship skills
