He/she must be mentally agile and advanced probl Job Purpose The Single-Skilled Craft Technician (SST) is professionally competent and qualified to operate and maintain safely at a post-apprentice level in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. He/she must be mentally agile and advanced problem solver who is able to maximize machinery operations whilst minimizing waste. Effective application of WCM methodology is essential for the role. The SST must be able to coach and develop the Machine Operator and Technical Operator's core technical awareness and skills. The Single-skilled Craft Technician (SST) for Ammonia Refrigeration Plant is responsible for the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the fully-integrated ammonia refrigeration system which includes all valves and controls for the various refrigeration loads consisting of ice cream freezers (including valves inside the freezers), hardening tunnels, cold storage, Glycol Cooling Systems, Brine Cooling System, Ageing Room, Reworks Chiller, Production Services Chiller, Water Chillers and Cooling Water Treatment. All operating parameters of the system (e.g., levels in vessels, temperature, flow and pressure in compressors, lines and vessels, etc.) are monitored, maintained, and balanced to ensure that the refrigeration system operates within safe operating limits and efficiency. Performs regular and emergency repair of refrigeration system which includes pump down and venting of system to ensure no ammonia release during line breaks and/or periodic maintenance. Role Requirements Graduate of Mechanical Engineering with sound knowledge of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. Licensed ME or Certified Plant Mechanic is required in compliance to government regulations. At least 2 years work experience is required gained from utilities, air conditioning or refrigeration operations Knowledgeable in Multi-Stage Ammonia Refrigeration System adequately perform start-up/machine set-up, adjustment of parameters, pump down or shutdown of refrigeration equipment, ammonia line break, ammonia leak isolation and troubleshooting, and PHA and HAZOP studies.
