Currently we are looking for a capable and independent individual for the following position as part of the multi-disciplinary team in Manila office.
Role:
The role will report directly to the Consulting Business Leader, where you will contribute to the development of the local business strategy for
the Integrated Planning Business which is expected to support both the regional and global strategy.
You will be expected to lead the Transport Planning team and take responsibility in growing the team and delivering projects including the
resource management and commercial performance of projects. You will provide project management and technical support on a variety of
projects which may include individual site developments, development master plans and significant transport infrastructure schemes.
You will need to use your transport planning and other skills to develop design proposals, analyze options, develop implementation strategies
and assess benefits and impacts.
You will maintain a strategic overview of the local business assigned to you and ensure that Arup is positioned to bid for identified opportunities.
You will also be expected to develop external business networks and proactively seek opportunities to project Arup's brand and capability to assist the development and positioning of Arup's business in the country.
You will work with and/or manage work that involves the use of traffic modelling packages, in particular micro simulation to assess scheme
proposals.
You will need to be familiar with the wider development planning process so that you can advise our clients in supporting development
applications. You will have experience in planning and designing for all transport modes, interchange activity and the creation of public realm
areas.
You will also need to be able to work collaboratively with wider multidisciplinary design and planning teams.
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential as you will be involved in preparing technical reports and advice notes and attending meetings.
Good interpersonal skills are important and you must be able to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues who have a range of
backgrounds and experience. You will also be willing to learn new skills and committed to developing your own career and supporting junior
colleagues in their own development.
Qualifications:
Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. civil engineering, architecture, transport planning etc.).
Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Outgoing leader that inspires and able to think strategically, but also go to details where needed
10-15 years' experience in transport planning, engineering and modelling for developments and transport infrastructure schemes.
5 -10 years' experience in project management and client facing roles
5-10 years experience in leading teams and mentoring staff to perform, excel and improve
5-10 years in business development including experience writing proposals and forming strategy messaging for public
Desirable:
Masters degree in relevant discipline (e.g. transport planning).
Previous experience in a consultancy environment.
Understanding and preferably experience of planning for autonomous vehicles and future transport in general (e.g. MaaS).
Experience in managing projects with a substantial spatial and digital element which apply data science techniques and internet scale software processing and visualization to enhance end user experience and optimize asset performance across the built environment. sector, development bank, and/or private sector clients
Experience of engagement with local government authorities, developers and the public
Proficiency in data collection, analysis and interpretation.
Experience of transport engineering, including highway design for strategic and local roads, public transport, walking and cycling schemes, particularly at the planning stage.
Knowledge and expertise in multimodal transport including green transport (cycle, walking and public transport) as well as traffic impact assessment and development planning.
Experience of low emissions technology and e-mobility
Experience of working within multi-disciplinary professional teams including architects, planning and engineering advisors.
