ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provision for Sales Taxes:
● Identify and assess risks related to VAT compliance in various jurisdictions.
● Create manual journal entries to provision for potential tax liabilities on the Balance Sheet and P&L.
● Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate representation of tax provisions.
● Maintain clear documentation of provision calculations and justifications.
2. Monthly/Quarterly VAT Compliance:
● Analyse buyer location data and perform necessary data cleansing.
● Validate tax rates, product categorization, and VAT numbers to ensure compliance.
● Prepare and submit accurate international VAT returns on a timely basis.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve any discrepancies.
3. Ad Hoc Projects and Research:
● Conduct research on different topics such as international penalties, interest rates, and tax regulations.
● Stay updated on digital services tax (DST), withholding tax, and other relevant tax developments.
● Assist with VAT registration and deregistration's worldwide.
● Assist in the implementation of tax-related projects and initiatives.
4. Quarterly Reconciliations:
● Perform quarterly reconciliations to ensure consistency between financial records and tax reports.
● Identify discrepancies and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve them.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Key Skills:
● Accounting qualification or bachelor's degree in law, accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
● Previous experience in VAT compliance, international taxation, or related roles.
● Advanced Excel skills for data handling and reconciliation purposes.
● Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
● Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on tasks.
● Team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
