What you'll be doing...
Life Cycle Architecture and Engineering (LCA&E) is the Technical Design Authority (TDA) for Verizon-managed customer networks. LCA&E owns the customer's network architecture and is responsible for the implementation of all design-impacting changes, architecture reviews, capacity management, problem management, etc. for the customer. The technical scope of GES (Global Engineering Support) includes LAN and WAN engineering, IP Services (DNS, DHCP) engineering, IP Telephony, Wi-Fi and various other network-based technologies. Within GES, a specific group is responsible for the engineering of customer networks that were completely outsourced to Verizon.
Design and hands-on implementation of customer networks (WAN, LAN, data centre, IPT, etc.)
Creating documentation for the implementation of the customer's network.
Supporting and coaching other engineers in the team at a technical level to provide professional engineering support to enable Verizon's organisation to provide high quality services/solutions to our customers.
Developing strategies for complex projects.
Managing the deliverables on complex customer design and implementation projects.
Proactively driving the development of the engineering role together with the other Design Engineers, Implementation Engineers.
Providing fourth-level support for Operations in the Incident and Problem Management process.
What we're looking for...
Your technical skills are top notch, and you are known for digging into the details to find the best solutions. You know how to get to the bottom of your customers' needs, and how to manage your partners' expectations. Talking to people comes very naturally to you and you have an ability to communicate complex information in a way that people understand - whether verbal or written.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A degree.
Cisco Certified Network Profession (CCNP) certification or similar level.
Knowledge on Cisco ACI fabric, leaf and spine configuration and good experience in DC LAN migrations.
Design and Implementation experience with Cisco WAN/LAN switching, WAAS, Juniper routing and internal wireless products.
Experience with contemporary technologies including MPLS, TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, QoS, IP Telephony, Multicast, and/or other similar tools.
Basic knowledge of OpenStack neutron and SDS configuration.
Designed and implemented large scale customer networks.
Project management experience and ITIL Service Management knowledge.
