The Senior Java Developer is responsible for the design, development, and management of Java-based applications. Entrinsic Technology is premium service provider to the logistics industry. This role involves applying a solid background in Java development to the creation of new systems and to the support of existing systems all of which collaborate to form the Terminal Operating System (TOS) of a large Port Container Terminal Operator. This position supports our Australian and Philippines operations and can be performed from anywhere in the Philippines - with the occasional office drop-in. Before and after current COVID restrictions, Entrinsic Technology supports predominately remote working arrangements for reliable professionals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver systems from inception to deployment with minimal direction. Undertake software modifications or feature enhancements to existing systems. Provide technical customer support. Provide technical documentation for the systems delivered. Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the technical integration of Terminal Operational Systems in use at the Clients of Entrinsic Technology. Understand well the business processes surrounding the use of the TOS and suggest out-of-the-box (base) implementations or solutions involving customization of the base product. Consult with, refer to and liaise with Vendor and Client technical leads to ensure the successful integrations and maintenance of TOS. Mentor and guide teams of up to 5 to deliver systems. Meeting or exceeding the timelines set for the assigned tasks. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exhibit good analytical/problem solving skills. Follow defined processes for software development/maintenance. Willing to take on new responsibilities as may be assigned by the management. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or equivalent experience. Demonstrates solid years of experience as a Senior Developer with solid working experience in software development, building scalable enterprise-level software, recently using: Java 8 Spring JMS Apache Tomcat HTML/Javascript/CSS Possess a basic understanding of, and show skill improvement, in the following disciplines to perform the core duties of a professional computer programmer: Requirements Elicitation and Documentation. Object Oriented Development. Database schema design and development of stored procedures. High level of technical literacy and assists in the development of specifications and requirements. High level of analysis in examining a client's current systems and determine overall project needs and scope. Excellent professional communication skills both verbal and written. With perseverance to overcome challenges, solve problems, and learn new computer languages and techniques. Highly self-motivated, proactive, resourceful, and decisive, has a positive attitude towards work and drive continuous improvements. Flexible and adaptable; able to work in an ambiguous situation. With the ability to gather accurate requirements and work closely with stakeholders to prioritize tasks and the scope of development. Experience in logistics, particularly maritime logistics is highly regarded.
