Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Java developer to join our team to work on our industry-leading advertising technology platform which enables advanced advertising capabilities on hundreds of top-tier websites globally to tens of millions of users daily.
You'll be joining a welcoming and dynamic team located around the world as you take a leading role in defining, building and iterating on our backend systems, the foundation of our business.
You will work closely with a mix of other backend engineers, as well as the other engineering teams, product, and data teams.
This can be a fully remote position with the successful candidate located +/- 3 hours of London timezone.
Qualifications
Senior-level experience programming in core Java
Experience writing multi-threaded code, building distributed and scalable systems and low-latency environments
Experience writing code optimized for high load, big data environments
Experience working in containerized (Kubernetes, Docker) applications
Experience in one or more of the following functional areas:
Building and maintaining APIs and RESTful services
Building and maintaining automated jobs and services (Cron)
ETL data pipeline development (data extraction, data formatting, and data loading)
Ability to analyze and refactor legacy code
Ability to identify and fix technical debt
Experience in writing high-quality, robust code involving approaches such as unit testing, code coverage, and static code analysis
Enthusiasm, pragmatism, and humility. You're good with people, communicating clearly and respectfully in a way that's appropriate to your audience. You ask the right questions and avoid making assumptions
Experience with GitHub, code reviews, pull requests, and agile methodologies
What the job involves:
Once you are onboarded, owning the long-term strategy of technological growth in one or more backend system components
Researching and proposing potential new technologies that can move our stack forward, then communicating them to the engineering and product teams
Taking ownership of the backend codebase, working to ensure our platform is up to date, and delivering value to our clients
Improving our applications and maintaining a high standard of our technologies across multiple devices, locales, and disciplines
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team as needed
Performing peer reviews on source code to ensure reuse, scalability, and the use of best practices
Participating in collaborative technical discussions that focus on software user experience, design, architecture, and development

Our backend tech stack includes: Java, Kubernetes and Docker, TeamCity, AWS
Our data stack includes a proprietary Java-based ETL which feeds into Clickhouse and Metabase for BI
