Business Need/Purpose of role
The Global Business Shared Services (GBS) team is in Irving Texas with an extension office in Manila Philippines. The GBS office Serves North America, Australia, Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa for accounting services such as General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions. GBS supports the ESCO and Minerals divisions of Weir.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger and the monthly accounting cycle in our Global Business Shared Services team. A thorough knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and an ability to administer all internal standards is required. This position ensures that accounting transactions are properly recorded, posted, processed, and reported to ensure accurate presentation of the balance sheet and income statement for multiple global regions; responds to internal customer escalations and ensures compliance with internal financial and accounting controls; helps coordinate activities that support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, profit and loss statements; and monitors general ledger maintenance and monthly accounting processing activities to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
We are recruiting for this role in either Pasig City Manila or Monterrey Mexico.
The successful candidate will have proven ability to:
Prepare and review Balance Sheet reconciliations timely, accurately, and in compliance with company guidelines.
Perform and review monthly close process to ensure books and records are accurately stated and all close procedures are completed.
Communicate process objectives, steps, and changes to ensure processes are performed in compliance with company close schedule.
Identify and analyze process errors and anomalies (e.g., coding errors, variance analysis, etc.) to ensure customers receive thorough and accurate replies for improving ineffective processes.
Respond to internal customer escalations and exceptions to research and resolve inquiries in a timely manner.
Involvement with process improvement projects and reporting.
Working with global accounting and finance personal to assist Regional Finance teams.
Work with corporate and business units to identify process work that allows migration opportunity to Global Shared Services.
Able to help process the month-end close
Ability to record, prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations using Oracle and Oracle Account Cloud Reconciliation Services (ARCS)
Demonstrate broad business and accounting knowledge; describe International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) methods
Demonstrates a basic understanding of Accounting concepts such as Intercompany accounting (balancing/recharges, etc.), Fixed Assets, Accruals, Foreign Exchange currency revaluations, Cash management/posting, and other accounting topics.
Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conduct financial analyses
Assist as needed in transition of work from other regions which may include traveling to sites, document processes, work-shadow, and performance of work.
About you:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting
Must have at least 5 years' general ledger experience in a corporate accounting function or shared services function
Experience using Oracle is a preferred
ARCS / Blackline experience preferred
Previous interaction with international subsidiaries and exposure to international accounting topics preferred
Experience in a lead role related to special projects is a plus
Multi-lingual a preferred (Mandatory requirement of English)
Willing to work the shift time: 10pm to 6am if base in the Philippines
