Job Description
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager and as a member of the North America Retirement Operations group, the Sr. Financial Analyst will be primarily responsible for delivery of accurate and timely Operations Management Reports and Canadian Segment Premium Client Reports. The Sr. Financial Analyst is also required to participate in meetings with senior management and other interested parties to discuss report results, strategic initiatives, and other aspects of reported data as needed.
Responsibilities:
Reconcile assigned GRS accounts on a daily basis and obtain appropriate sign-offs at month-end as evidence that the accounts are in good standing.
Prepare reporting, review, analyze and provide commentary on monthly FTE data
Prepare reporting, review and analyze monthly Operation expense data
Prepare weekly eTreasury payment for loss funding for Open Architecture Plans
Prepare monthly capacity plans for various Operations teams
Prepare monthly Canadian Segment Premium Client Statements
Prepare monthly Canadian Segment Premium Client Account Reconciliations
Prepare journal entries relating to Canadian Segment Premium Client Account Reconciliation & Reporting
Canadian Segment Premium Client Account Corrections as required
Participate in periodic meetings with management
Provide backup / coverage with other staff for suspense reconciliation once fully trained and up-to-speed with this role.
Work with various internal staff to identify discrepancies and clear items in a timely manner
Perform ad-hoc duties as maybe required from time to time such as audit requests, correction of errors, project testing, etc.
Ad hoc management reporting as required
Problems/Challenges:
Accuracy and consistency of data is imperative.
Tight deadlines and changing priorities - must be able to juggle multiple tasks.
Regular interaction with department heads
Qualifications:
College degree with 4-5 years relevant industry experience, insurance background is preferred.
Familiarity with Manulife proprietary systems such as Lawson, Apollo, E-Treasury, TRECs, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks during peak times.
Accuracy of work and attention to details.
Ability to work independently with less supervision or in a team environment.
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
