SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Equipment Design and Deployment Engineer is responsible to define, design, select/source and purchase for new tool platforms. Manage equipment projects and interface with external vendors/material suppliers, consultants, customers, etc. to meet project objectives and timelines. Lead equipment source inspection, installation, start-up, qualification and final acceptance tests. Innovates focusing on tool or process step simplification and cost reduction.
The EDD Engineer reports to EDD Department Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment design, prototyping and test
Equipment programming and modification trouble shooting and repairs
Create shop drawing of electromechanical parts
Drives tool design and conduct detailed design reviews
Drives equipment and vendor selection/down selection
Drives problem solving and troubleshooting of complex capital equipment
Manages and justify complex projects and lead small project teams
Collaborates with equipment vendors to ensure performance to specification, schedule and budget
Drives facility preparation, tool installation and startup at SunPower's production facilities in Asia
Supports to R&D initiatives coming from US/SPSV
Establish training, tool maintenance and troubleshooting documentation and systems
Manages alignment of all stakeholders, including R&D, Engineering and Production
Generates and manage budgets and schedules
Pioneer improved business processes and methods related to Engineering/Mfg.
Innovation focuses on tool or process step simplification and cost reduction
Explore/develop new manufacturing technologies/tools for next-generation devices and processes
Temporary travel to vendors and our factories in Asia and Europe
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate superior
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Graduate in Engineering or its equivalent
Good understanding of fundamental, theories and principle of Engineering, Physics and Chemistry.
Proficient in Cad software
Knowledgeable in rapid prototyping method like 3d printing
Experience with mechanical design, automation and controls preferred
Machine Programming i.e. PLC/ Visual basic, Macro and or the likes is an advantage
Experience with furnaces, etching, CVD, die testing also preferred.
Experienced and familiar of using statistical problem-solving methodology such as Equipment Fingerprinting, Tool Lockdown, design FMEA, 8D, and the likes
