We're currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our leading fintech clients in a long-term engagement, working closely with their in-house team to build the infrastructure behind a cutting-edge financial platform.

What You'll Work On
Build Scalable APIs: Design and implement robust RESTful APIs used for payments, card issuing, and beneficiary management.
Develop Core Payment Systems: Work on transaction processing, authorisation logic, and an immutable financial ledger.
Implement Secure Pipelines: Build secure data flows for transaction reconciliation, settlement, and reporting.
Support Integrations: Collaborate with client teams to support technical integrations and resolve complex issues.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Translate compliance and card scheme rules into reliable, auditable system logic.
Maintain Reliability: Own the lifecycle of backend services, including monitoring, testing, deployment, and incident response.
What You Bring
Must-Have:
5+ years of backend development experience in production environments.
Strong programming skills in one or more modern backend languages (e.g. Go, Python, Java, Node.js, Kotlin).
Proven experience designing and operating secure, scalable APIs.
Advanced knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and data modelling.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code.
Solid understanding of software security and data protection principles.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in the fintech or payments domain (e.g. card issuing, BaaS, transaction processing).
Familiarity with event-driven systems and messaging tools (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Knowledge of financial compliance and regulatory systems.
Experience mentoring junior developers or leading technical projects.
Engagement Structure
You'll be engaged as a full-time team member via Tallant Asia, working as an integrated part of the client's engineering team.
You'll report to the client's CTO / Head of Engineering, with ongoing support from our internal team.
