Reporting into the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, provide specialised legal advice to the Tax & Accounting business of Wolters Kluwer in APAC.
About the role
The Senior Attorney is responsible for supporting commercial activities in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. This position is a member of the local executive team and will work closely with senior management on general commercial, corporate and contractual matters, and will advise on intellectual property, regulatory compliance and dispute matters. This role is based in Sydney (Macquarie Park) or Melbourne (CBD) with flexible working arrangements and is full-time and permanent.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide comprehensive legal counsel on a broad spectrum of corporate, commercial, and intellectual property matters, including legal issues related to SaaS, on premise software license and professional service offerings
Develop a strong relationship with the management team to help deliver high quality legal services which are appropriately linked to the business' needs
Provide assistance in structuring and drafting, negotiating, interpreting, and enforcing material and high value commercial transactions
Develop an in-depth understanding for Tax & Accounting organisation, market and customers to provide commercial advice to the business
Manage outside counsel in Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
About you
The ideal candidate possesses:
8+ years' experience in corporate/commercial law, preferable within a large law firm
Substantial knowledge of technology transactions - SaaS, on-premise and licensing
Strong business acumen to support all of the cross-functional groups within the business
A can-do attitude to thrive in an autonomous position
Experience managing external counsel (desirable)
Understanding of international law (desirable).
