About the job:
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will own the full cycle accounting of our two companies.
Duties & responsibilities:
You are an experienced Senior Accountant looking for a fast-paced environment offering diverse work and a great culture. You are looking to accelerate your development into Controllership. You are a detail-oriented person who thrives on running efficient processes and meeting deadlines. You enjoy working as part of a team but can put your head down and get the job done.
The Senior Accountant will be working in a team environment with the CFO and other employees of the company. The Senior Accountant will fulfill a diverse role with many responsibilities, including the following:
Creating, posting and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
Managing full-cycle accounting for the organization
Preparing detailed working papers for each month-end
Preparing monthly and quarterly financial consolidations with FX translation
Assist in providing the working papers and analysis for Canadian and US corporate tax filings to ensure compliance with tax regulations
Assist in providing the working papers for Canadian sales tax filings
Preparing payroll for each period for review by the CFO
Assist in the on-boarding of any new employees or companies
Ensure compliance with defined processes and internal controls
Prepare ad hoc financial reports and models as requested by the CFO
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
Other related tasks as assigned by CFO
Requirements
Minimum 3 - 5 years full cycle accounting experience, including preparing consolidated financial statements
Experience in Xero a requirement, performing consolidations in FathomHQ an asset
Experience with payroll systems and platforms such as Dext and Plooto an asset
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
