About the role:
Coaches the team to create better Solutions, improve business results, and better their processes
Facilitates team meetings, including:
Backlog Refinement
Iteration Planning
Daily Stand-Up (DSU)
Iteration Review
Iteration Retrospective
Facilitates program events (as coordinated with the RTE/ Program Leadership)
Removes impediments and barriers to the team's progress
Protects the team from outside influence
Tracking and communicating agreed upon team metrics
Assists the team in implementing SAFe/ Hybrid Agile Models and working with other teams who may or may not be using SAFe
Fosters adoption of Agile technical practices
Coaches the team on the best ways to refine their backlog and create Stories
Ensure Development Team understands and maintains commitment to the Definition of Done (DoD)
Provides oversight for compliance to organizational standards (Security, CMMI, etc.) and best practices within the team
Assists in coordinating remediation to gaps in compliance to organizational standards
Assists the PO in preparing and refining the backlog for PI and Iteration Planning
Help in Creation of Stories
Assist in Keeping the Backlog Healthy
Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
Understanding product planning in an empirical environment
Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
Coach the Product Owner to ensure the volume and flow of Product Backlog Items (user stories) towards the top of the Product Backlog are ready for the Sprint Backlog
Release Train Transparency
Coordinates with other Scrum Masters, the System Team, and shared resources in the ART PI Planning meetings
Works with the above teams throughout each Iteration and PI
Coordinates with other Scrum Masters and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) in Scrum of Scrums and/or ART Sync with the Product Managers/Product Owners
Fosters normalized estimating within the team
Helps teams operate under architectural and portfolio governance, System Level integration, and System Demos
Fosters adoption of Agile technical practices
Escalates team impediments to the RTE
Position requirements:
5 - 7 years experience as Scrum Master
Scrum Master Certified (SSM, CSM, PSM) or similar
At least one SAFe certification preferred
Advanced Scrum Master Certification including SASM, CSP, RTE, SPC or similar certification preferred
Certification in another agile competency, such as product owner, developer, etc. preferred
Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled
Agile Framework (SAFe) or other scaling model is highly preferred
Servant leader and strong communicator with strong interpersonal skills 5+ years of experience working in a cross function Agile environment
3+ years of experience engaging stakeholders, contributors and technical resources to analyze user needs and resource limitation
3+ years of experience with facilitating discussions of complex, high value IT delivery projects that require the coordination of development work or technology work on multiple platforms to achieve desired functionality
Listen and support teams in problem-identification and decision making
Encourage an environment that values mutual respect, openness, and courage
Persuade by influence rather than authority
