Job Purpose
The SAP ABAP Consultant play a leading role in analysing business requirements, facilitating the implementation and operational support of SAP modules and functionalities, ensuring cross functional and application integration to enhance Sophos business functionality and performance.
Main Duties:
Analyse business process gaps, identify solution alternatives and provide guidance to business and IT stakeholders for selecting the best solutions for closing the gaps.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Create Technical Design documentation and carrying out development in accordance with the agreed requirements and SAP development standards.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
You will be a subject matter expert in design and development of SAP solutions against agreed and defined business requirements.
Document and control all changes made to production systems via change control processes.
Support and deliver all RICEFW elements (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows) on an EhP6 system that makes use of SAP best practices.
Estimate workload and contribute to process improvement involving code development and design to meet the required project timelines.
Assist the Team Leader in examining packages of work and provide realistic timescales for completion.
Complete work allocated within agreed time and quality criteria and provide progress reports on assigned work as required.
Involvement in change management and controls within your area of responsibility, including negotiation with other teams, as necessary.
Provide integration architecture guidance to functional teams to build functional designs, prepare the technical design based on specifications.
Lead and manage small projects.
Provide leadership to junior systems analyst and SME's assigned to projects.
Conducts solution architect workshops with business managers and work with end-users to determine the technical requirements.
Work closely with other 3rd party ABAP developers to define programming requirements and review solutions.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related course required.
7+ years hands-on SAP ABAP experience
5-10 years of working on a complex SAP system environment.
SAP SD, FI and MM experience would be advantageous.
Experience in an in-house App Dev set-up is preferred.
Experience with integrations to 3rd party systems and interfaces.
Experience with a selection of other development objects, for example Function Modules, Data dictionary objects, BADI, BAPI, User-Exits, Web Services Gateway oData Services, CDS Views, Smart forms, reports, or performance tuning is advantageous.
Strong customer focus with good communication skills as role requires working collaboratively with our SAP SME's and wider teams.
Producing test cases, user training documentation and functional design documentation.
Ability to debug code, analyse and provide the AS-IS technical designs to identify impact analysis and risks for existing ABAP Code in the TO-BE technical designs.
Knowledge of ABAP coding security best practises.
Perform testing and smoke testing of system changes and to assist in user testing of changes.
Participate in knowledge sharing with colleagues in SAP technical and related client business matters.
Playing an active part in Process Improvement, ensuring compliance with all relevant quality processes and procedures, including completion of all the specified quality records.
Full knowledge of the development lifecycle.
Awareness of Risk, Change & Problem Management relating to new ABAP development.
Ability to work independently, to meet project timelines and drive out resolutions to problems.
Good problem-solving capabilities with the necessary urgency & responsiveness to incidents, problems, and their resolution.
Multiple full lifecycle projects - rollouts, upgrades, divestitures, mergers & migrations.
Self-motivating and can initiate productive work plan.
Should be an excellent team player.
