TAG is looking for a Sales Tax Accountant who has experience with filing state and local sales and use tax returns in multi-state environment. A successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a construction company. The Sales Tax Accountant will report to the Shared Services Controller and will serve as an integral part of the accounting team of The Arcticom Group.
Key responsibilities will include:
Be responsible for the monthly, quarterly, annual state and local sales and use tax filings for multiple entities.
Ensure the state and local sales and use tax returns are filed accurately and timely.
Process tax payments timely.
Resolve sales and use tax notices and audits through written and oral communication.
Work with Operations to ensure invoices have the proper tax charges.
Reconcile all B/S tax accounts.
Be the lead for Avalara implementation to help automate the sales and use tax filing process.
Research and keep current on changes to the sales and local tax legislation and current developments.
Assist with special projects and perform other duties upon request.
Skills/Qualifications:
Prior experience in filing state and local sales and use tax returns in a multi-state environment required.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
High attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving techniques and quantitative analytical skills.
Strong decision-making skills, working well under pressure and being able to meet deadlines.
Advanced level of proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Prior experience with Avalara is a plus.

Education/Experience Requirements:

5+ years of progressive sales and local tax experience preferably in construction industry
Experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics a plus
Strong knowledge of state and local tax rules.
