The Safety Supervisor is accountable for the entire performance of the unit and its personnel. This role is responsible for performance management and development, process improvements, conflict resolution and stakeholder management.
Duties and responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of safety
Manage productivity and performance of safety team
Ensure records and all documentation prepared by the team are accurate and complete
Conduct scheduled and surprise inspections and audits on sites to ensure compliance in standard operating and safety protocols
Act as point of escalation for cases or incidents or anything related to safety matters
Ensure up-to-date knowledge in mandatory trainings or requirements for safety and facilitate the roll out or the changes as needed
Improve processes and procedure
Conduct reviews of safety programs and identify corrective actions as needed
Spearhead and promote periodic safety meetings for addressing job-related safety issues
Conduct random inspection and investigation of work areas to ensure application of safety-related work practices
Disseminate safety information and incident reports to line management and team members
Conduct in-house trainings or cascade meetings about standard and best practices in the field
Ensure accuracy of all records of safety and incident reports, audit reviews and relevant documentation
Spearhead programs and projects regarding all other aspects of occupational safety including OSHA compliance evaluations, accident and incident investigations, program development and training
Manage the field operations firsthand when needed
Coach, train, and discipline as needed the safety personnel
Provide reports and recommendations to senior management
Ensure alignment among team members and major stakeholders of the team, escalating to management issues as appropriate
