Job Description:
Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable Ruby code
Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
Work within software development teams focusing on pragmatic delivery of value-based solutions
Work to a secure first mindset with every aspect of your work
Participate and work with the team to deliver business requirements
Support and mentor other team members
Deliver cloud hosted solutions
Implement software solution testing though techniques such as BDD, TDD, Integration Testing and Unit Testing
Support the creation of backlogs
Demonstrate a continuous growth mindset
Qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience with Ruby on Rails
A Knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code
Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (GIT)
Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
Experience in designing and developing high availability and scalable systems
Strong understanding of software development practices and concepts such as:
- Object-relational mapping, Active Record Object Oriented Programming
- Database Design Patterns
- Multi-threading
- Multi-tenancy
- Data Structures
- Algorithms
Solid background on optimized database design and implementation
Experience with creation and maintenance of web services (SOAP or REST)
Experience with code versioning tools, preferably Git and good understanding of branching models
Strong background in Linux/Unix administration
Ability to work in multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail, with robust written and spoken English
Requirements
Requirements for the role:
Experience as a Senior Developer or capable of handling a team. You have fostered relationships and success across remote, agile environments.
At least 10 years experience as a software developer within the Ruby on Rails space.
Experience with highly complex RoR applications at an enterprise scale.
Experience with various API and integration development.
Proficiency in modelling and working with structured data in relational databases.
Experience delivering production-grade code for either backend or frontend platforms.
Ability to troubleshoot and develop software within complex environments.
Preferred but not Required:
Familiarity with Microservices architecture
Intermediate knowledge in front-end technologies (Vue or React)
Experience with test-driven development, UI tests, and unit tests
Experience with AWS or any cloud platform
Familiarity with API Middleware, Service Discovery, and Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP)
Agile software development background
