THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International Philippines is now in the 3rd year of implementation of the Youth Collective Action for Resilient and Safer Communities (Youth CARES) Project. The project aims to build a safe, accountable, inclusive, and resilient city with and for the most marginalized urban poor population, especially for the girls and young women in the Cities of Manila and Pasay. It supports strengthening the agency of young people, to increase their own resilience and the resilience of the communities they live in, by actively participating in urban resilience planning and local government decision making.
In line with this, Plan International is looking for a Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Officer.
This role will support the achievement of the Urban Nexus' goals and objectives through managing and implementing the Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) component of the project, including providing support to the partner barangays in developing their risk communication plan. This assignment is for 11 months and is based in Makati City.
Further, as the RCCE Officer:
You will assist the project team in the conduct of city-level online research focusing on the impacts of COVID-19 to children and young people.
You will coordinate with and assist the layout artists and graphic designers, content developers, and other consultants in the development of the project's IEC materials.
You will write press releases, features, and case stories.
You will support the development and implementation of the communication and visibility and the social media plan of the project.
You will provide support to the disaster risk management (DRM) program for the enhancement of branding and visibility of the program and organization.
Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in your assigned covered areas.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful in the role you will need among other things:
Bachelor's degree in communication, development communication, journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A related master's degree will be an advantage.
At least three years of demonstrated experience working as a professional communicator; experience of development and humanitarian issues affecting children and families preferred.
Strong background in risk communication and capturing community stories, including participatory, child-friendly approaches
Relevant training and experience in community development, program and project management, event organizing, strategic communication planning, and presentation skills.
Has proven knowledge and experience in the use of various information, communication and technology tools.
Previous work experience in a similar project or in a non-government organization/s is an advantage.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
