THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International is currently implementing an emergency response to Typhoon Odette hit communities in Southern Leyte.
In line with this project, Plan International invites competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.
The Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Officer will be in charge of implementing the risk communication & community engagement component of the emergency response project.
Further, as the RCCE Officer:
You will provide the necessary support to partner LGUs and barangays in developing the risk communication plan.
You will assist the project team in the conduct of provincial and municipal level RCCE related actions.
You will liaise with the communication and advocacy unit for any applicable project communications-related materials for development, press releases, case stories for submission to the donor.
You will coordinate with appropriate County Program Managers for technical assistance to ensure compliance with Plan's guidelines and formats.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful in the role you will need among other things:
Bachelor's degree in communication, development communication, journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience working as a professional communicator; experience of development and humanitarian issues affecting children and families preferred.
Strong background in risk communication and capturing community stories, including participatory, child-friendly approaches.
Relevant training and experience in community development, program and project management, event organizing, strategic communication planning, and presentation skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of intermediate gender and inclusion concepts.
Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
Ability to understand and speak local language; familiar with municipalities in Region VIII.
Applicants must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino national.
