A Hotel Revenue Manager is the person in charge of leading pricing strategies in order to maximize a hotel's profitability. They generate rate strategies that can be applied to a hotel's sales and marketing efforts to better position the hotel for success. They must balance the pricing strategy to meet the commercial goals, so they often work with sales, marketing, and operations.
RM's must work with different stakeholders on a daily basis to understand and make the best strategic decisions possible using market research, critical thinking, and analysis to reach conclusions that will benefit the bottom line. They must practice yield management of the property's availability and restrictions.
Revenue Manager Responsibilities:
Implementing a system to ensure that accurate billing information is entered into the billing system.
Supervising the revenue department in various duties, such as account management, P&L, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, and billing.
Managing staff performance by providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and one-on-one meetings.
Reviewing financial hardship applications.
Overseeing the hiring and training of staff.
Efficiently managing clients complaints in respect of billing and collections.
Planning and structuring the department workflow and staffing.
Correctly coding diagnoses and procedures.
They supervise and oversee staff in duties pertaining to patient billing, communications with health insurance, collections, cash posting, account management, and contract analysis.
Revenue Manager Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, healthcare administration, or related field.
5 years and up work experience in a related field.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications as well as medical office software.
Proven experience in healthcare billing.
Sound knowledge of health insurance providers.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
