Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Senior Scientist II, provide assistance in conducting rice transformation and molecular characterization, introgression of HIZR trait, confined test, multi-location field trials and stacking of HIZR and GR traits.
This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan experiments in conducting rice transformation and molecular characterization, introgression of HIZR trait, confined test, multi-location field trials and stacking of HIZR and GR traits.
Implement experiments, collecting and collating data, and perform basic data analysis,
Prepare materials and equipment, and supervising manpower support as needed in the experiments
Contribute to the verification and application of research protocols/methods/techniques that would aid in the successful execution of the experiment/activity,
Contribute to presentation of reports, publications of project results
Collaborate with lRRl's healthier rice team members, in the execution of confined test, field trials and crossing works
Coordinate with NARES researchers for conducting field trials and event stewardship
Interpret data and contribute to the SOP, protocol and manuscript writing
Prepare and submit updated research outputs to the Senior Scientist II in a timely manner
Proactively maintain database or spreadsheet of experiments
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or related field
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in Molecular Biology and Rice Transformation
Skills Required
Mandatory
Familiar with quality control tools
Has proven technical proficiency in conducting experiments
Has strong analytical skills
Is a team player
