THE POSITION
The Regional Financial Accountant (SE Asia) will be part of the Regional SEA Finance team based in Manila, reporting to the Regional CFO (SE Asia).
The Regional Finance team is a new function set up to support the recent SE Asian acquisitions of EMPG and includes operations in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh and Mexico.
Working in close coordination with the Group Finance function based in Dubai, you will be coordinating and liaising with local country Finance Controllers and fellow regional team members to ensure compliance and consistency in reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to Group Finance
Ensure statutory compliance in the region
In detail review and interrogation of forecasts and cashflows of BUs
Participation in strategic regional tax review with an overview of transfer pricing, ensuring tax efficiency in the region (transfer pricing, withholding tax, etc)
Coordinate and communicate with country, regional and group Finance teams
Establish routine for monthly reporting (month end accounts, forecasting, etc)
Communicate Group Accounting policies to business units and ensure uniform application of policies
Introduce schedules and processes to increase transparency and improve accuracy of balance sheet items
Review and interrogate monthly reports from countries (P&L and Balance sheet, forecasts)
Prepare monthly regional reports for submission to Group Finance
Assist in coordination and preparation of budgets and forecasts for the Region (including cashflows)
Prepare and update cashflows and cash forecasts
Liaise with local FCs to ensure local accounting and tax compliance in the region
Assist the Regional CFO and Group Finance in ad hoc projects and compliance requirements
Requirements
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree and a Professional Qualification in Accounting
A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience in Auditing, Financial Analysis and preparing full set of accounts. Audit background preferred.
Must have prior experience of consolidations in multicurrency organisations.
Able to evidence experience of, or inclination for, process improvements.
Willingness to travel within the region, as and when required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive work attitude and high level of integrity.
Ability to develop strong internal relationships across the Group with all key stakeholders.
Advanced Excel skills.
An essential part of the role will be to build relationships and establish rapport with the Finance functions of the local business units. An understanding of cultural issues and ability to arrive at solutions despite language barriers will be critical to your success in this role.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, a "can do" attitude, ability to think outside the box, inclination to develop and coach the Finance team, and possess strong communication skills.
