POSITION SUMMARY:
Descartes is a leading provider of Ocean Transportation Rate Management Systems and Ocean Publishing Services. The systems and services that Descartes supplies to VOCCs, NVOCCs, shippers, and other ocean intermediaries allows them to maintain global rate repositories consisting of service contracts, tariff publications, inland rates, and governing charges. As a Rate Management Analyst, you will be responsible for interpreting, creating, maintaining, and quality assuring ocean and inland rate information in Descartes' Rate Builder application. The analyst will correspond directly with customers regarding filing requests and will provide customer support as an application domain expert.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position responsibilities are situated in the following domains:
Interpreting rate structures and converting/maintaining rate information in Descartes' rate management
applications.
Converting/maintaining surcharges
Quality assurance of rate information.
Assisting with application and data related issues.
Documentation of publishing guides
REQUIREMENTS:
2-year Associate Degree in Math, Data Management, Information Science, or equivalent experience in rate
management
Strong analytical, clerical, and organization skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong math skills (Algebra)
Advanced Microsoft Office Excel Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
Ability to work under pressure to meet both short- and long-term deadlines
