Job Summary:
The Consultant will be responsible for conducting and providing technical report for the RAPID MARKET ASSESSMENT of the Community Resilience through Ecological Integrity (CORE) Project. He/She will be responsible for developing a detailed and elaborate RMA methodology and work plan. The Consultant will also be responsible for the data gathering process and communication with stakeholders involved. S/he will conduct a debriefing of the preliminary RMA results to the CORE team at the end of the field research.
Key Deliverables:
To identify potential value chains in the project.
Analyze constraints and opportunities in the selected value chains and recommend value chain development strategies.
To profile markets for value chain products.
To produce a database list of all the potential markets including contact details.
All deliverables are to be submitted to the Islamic Relief CORE project, electronically and in hard copy (3 copies).
Deliverables include: * Inception report - to be submitted one week before commencement of the assessment.
Draft report - containing preliminary findings.
Final report - to be submitted at the end of the assessment with a maximum of 30 pages excluding annexes. The final assessment report should be systematically structured in a manner that details overall findings, offering factual support, analysis of markets and solutions and synthesis of all information received for purposes of conclusion/recommendations. The final report should be as follows:
a. Executive summary, including recommendations
b. Main section: * Introduction
Programme description
Objectives and methodology
Analysis of the findings according to the assessment criteria
c. Conclusions and recommendations
d. Appendices
e. Bibliography
All material collected during the assessment process should be handed over to the CORE project prior to the termination of the contract.
Output will be accomplished as below.
Day 1: Briefing with the CORE team
Day 2-14: RMA works
Day 15: Submission of e-copy of the output.
Day 17: Presentation of the result
Day 18-19: Finalization after comments, if any.
Day 20: Submission of the Final Output [hard copy in (duly signed by the consultant) and soft copy of the output].
Required Qualifications:
Possess documented extensive experience in Value Chain and Market Analysis in related programs.
Advanced degree (preferred) in Rural Development, Economics, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience with Value Chains and markets research.
A proven track record in delivering professional results.
Have sound knowledge of RMA and data-collection methods.
Be able to communicate effectively in English, Tagalog and/or Maguindanao languages.
Have process management skills and facilitation skills.
Strongly committed to the timely production of high-quality work.
Proven ability to think critically and in an innovate way
Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
Strong analytic ability in terms of analyzing and interpreting provided information
Demonstrated ability in the successful and timely completion of similar assignments in the past.
