QUANTITY SURVEYOR / DOCUMENT CONTROLLER
 
Job brief summary
We are seeking a skilled, reliable, efficient Quantity Surveyor/Document Controller to join our growing organization. In this position, you will estimate the costs of construction projects, working with contractors, builders, and architects to provide the most cost-effective plans that meet high-quality standards. You must have strong organizational and communication skills in order to manage and direct development plans. As a document controller, you will be in charge of all controlled documents for our company, making sure everyone is on the same page when they need to be.
Duties and Responsibilities - QS
Review architectural plans and prepare quantity needs;
Estimate the quantity and costs of materials;
Prepare contracts and documents;
Set budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials;
Analyze costs for maintenance and additional building needs;
Track changes in plans or constructions; update budgets;
Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors;
Document contractors and subcontractors scope of works;
Identify potential financial or construction risks;
Evaluate and validate subcontractors billing;
Document progress, materials, and reports on project;
Utilize software to calculate, record, and track inventory and estimates;
Analyze completed projects to determine ROI and compare costs.

Manage and maintain all controlled company documents
Update and control procedure documents and forms
Create and manage document hierarchy and process systems
Take charge of all document identification, classification, and filing
Frequently conduct document audits confirming they are current and accurately reflect recorded evidence
Ensure revised documents are accessible
Oversee document through its entire lifecycle (inception to archival)
Create document filing and organizing systems that are both effective and efficient
Ensure proper organization and security of documents (paper and electronic)
Log document requests and help retrieve documents as needed for employees
Collaborate and communicate with managers and project leaders
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field;
5-10 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field;
Proficient in computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and CAD system.
Able to analyze financial records and apply data to improved results;
Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports;
Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets; strong estimating and financial analysis skills;
In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry;
Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
Detail-oriented and meticulous work ethic
Extremely organized and efficient
Proven skill for creating and implementing controlled document processes
Work well under pressure and have impressive stress management
Strong oral and written communication skills
