Job Summary
Responsible for the quality control inspection of finished paper and takes charge of the implementation of quality control standards and procedures to ensure that good quality paper is produced.
Ensure accuracy of roll disposition based on testing and inspection.
Maintain and safe-keep all document and files related to quality control, in accordance to the retention period as declared.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Test off-reel sample basis weight, caliper, moisture, smoothness, porosity, tensile, stiffness, brightness, opacity ink penetration, dirt count, formation, L-A-B Values, RCT, CMT, Cobb, tear and burst based on paper grade properties.
• Test off-winder roll for basis weight and caliper and inspect off-winder rolls for any physical defects. Classify rolls saleable, reject or for slabbing depending on test results or severity of roll defects.
• Test incoming delivery of finishing materials as required.
• Measure the width of finished roll every change size / IMO or as required.
• Inspect finished roll markings and wrapping condition.
• Perform verification of laboratory environment and of assigned testing instruments
• Make adjustment on dyes and advise adjustment on sizing agent and whitening agent.
• Inform Supervisor on duty / Production personnel for any paper and roll defect for proper adjustment.
• Assist the Process Engineer in all technical undertaking.
• Prepare certificate of analysis of rolls to be delivered, as required by customer.
• Maintain inventory of sample of retention and for sales use.
• Record off-spec result and coordinates with PMD supervisor / personnel for possible action. Classify roll depending on test result or severity of roll defect and recommend status for finishing materials.
• Report any untoward incident and usual finding to concerned personnel and department.
