Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Specialist-Food Safety & Regulatory is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of the Meat Operations (Slaughter and Fabrication Facility, R&D Test Kitchen, The Good Meat, and YOLO) Food Safety and Regulatory Systems. He/She ensures the compliance of the Meat Operations with the Food Safety and Regulatory Requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executes responsibilities as the Food Safety Team Leader of the Meat Operations Team. He/She has the authority to assess facility compliance with Food Safety requirements and initiate Order of Operations stoppage if not compliant.
Ensures that the developed product-specific food safety and quality guidelines are aligned to the One Food Group Corporate Quality Guidelines.
Responsible for ensuring the compliance of the Meat Operations Team with the local and international Food Safety Requirements such as FSSC (Food Safety System Certification) 22000, HACCP/GMP, and other special requirements such as NMIS, FDA requirements in the manufacture and distribution of meat products.
Reviews the existing Guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions relevant to Food Safety and Quality to ensure their effective implementation.
Works in coordination with the Quality Assurance Operations Team in ensuring the hygiene and microbiological monitoring of production lines and environment.
Works in coordination with the Cleaning and Sanitation, and Pest Control Service Providers in ensuring that the Master Sanitation Plan and Integrated Pest Management Plans are being adhered to.
Ensures compliance with the regulations set by National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Secures all necessary documents such as NMIS-LTO, FDA-LTO, and HACCP/GMP Certificates of the facility issued by the NMIS and/or FDA.
Maintains regulatory compliance of products for the following regulatory activities: initial, renewal, variations, promo permits, marketing materials, labeling review, among others, to ensure compliance of the company with NMIS and FDA regulations for business continuity.
Participates in cross-functional teams within the affiliate and provides regulatory expertise and insight.
Keeps updated with current local and international regulations and potential changes that will impact the business environment and communicate appropriately to involved or affected parties.
Leads the team during external food safety and regulatory-related audits such as NMIS, FDA, FSSC 22000, and Customer Audits.
Performs food safety-related audits for Meats Operations sites/facilities.
Ensures that departmental issues regarding Food Safety systems and processes are resolved effectively and without undue delays.
Conducts training on food safety systems to all relevant stakeholders.
Provides progress reports on the Meats Facilities' compliance with the Food Safety and Regulatory requirements.
Ensures that the document management system is being implemented effectively across all Meat Operations sites.
Other Responsibilities
Keeps abreast with the new developments and advances on industry practices, quality management technology through attending seminars and conferences, networking with local and foreign quality experts and liaison with other quality institutions / organizations.
Participates in all Company initiatives and programs as well as provide support whenever necessary
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Biology
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At least 3 years of working experience in Quality Assurance or Regulatory Affairs in the Food Manufacturing Industry
CRITICAL SKILLS OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Hard Skills
Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety, Quality Management System and Regulatory Affairs Management.
Competent in the use of Google Suite programs.

Excellent communication skills and fluent in English both written and spoken.
