Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is to execute food safety programs at Slaughtering and meat cutting plant, which include daily pre-operation inspections, quality checks, food safety training, GMP & SSOP completion, HACCP coordination, monitoring & verification of CCPs. The QA Specialist also ensures that the meat products, processes and services meet the desired quality levels at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implements and maintains all corporate food safety related strategies, policies and procedures; maintain open communication with all related departments to address the identification of food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities
2. Implements HACCP Plan and pre-requisite programs.
3. Performs HACCP monitoring to include but not limited to - concentration of chlorinated water solution monitoring, temperature monitoring, environmental monitoring and metal detection, and the sanitation program.
4. Works with the Operations team to ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (5S/GMP, HACCP, and ISO).
5. Monitors and observes key associates' compliance on the food safety and quality assurance activities.
6. Uses the document control system to collect, maintain and update corporate SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), policies and templates for all Food Safety related records
7. Conducts traceability during product recall process to ensure timely communication and execution of product recalls and completion of related documentation.
8. Supports meat product hold and release programs by ensuring product is not released without prior approval and documentation 9. Prepare and review work instructions, inspection plans and SOP.
10. Receives incoming packaging materials and live hogs.
11.Conducts GMP of production and personnel including truck and truck personnel
12. Monitor and check pre dispatch items for delivery
13. Reports quality issues.
14. Assists in customers and NMIS audits.
15. Responsible in investigating customer complaints related to quality, monitoring of complaint resolution per process owner.
16. The Quality Assurance Specialist actively participates in all company programs on quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility and risk management.
17. Performs other assigned related tasks as directed by the immediate superior.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree of Food Science/ Animal Science/ Biological Science / Microbiology or similar field
Experience:
With at 6 months to one year experience in Food Manufacturing, Food Service Operations, Quality Assurance Control, or related discipline
CRITICAL SKILLS OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Can demonstrate technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food processing, sanitation and food regulations and policy.
With knowledge on product traceability, food safety, food micro and food defense QA?
Attention to details
Strong interpersonal , communication and organizational skills.
Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Internet
Mathematical Skills: Algebra, Statistics
