Haltech is a world leader in engine management systems. Our mission is to empower automotive enthusiasm using technology. This role is to coordinate our internal projects within our research and development environment.
This role involves:
Establishing a Project Management framework for R&D in respect to Project Lifecycle and ongoing Project Management processes and practices.
Project time tracking and estimation - updating project timelines based on new information - updated estimates, interruptions to workflow, delays from third parties etc. Communicate this information in a way that is easy to interpret to stakeholders within and outside the R&D department. Plan and predict work based on task estimates and available resources. Keep project data in the project management software system up to date in a developing situation.
Project cost tracking - track the costs of a project. Review the costs vs the estimates at the end of each project stage and at the end of each project.
Internal resource tracking - analyse logged time against tasks vs hours worked to make sure hours are being logged correctly, correlate department expenses from our accounting software with the costs logged against projects to ensure all departmental costs have been captured against the correct project
Being active in all R&D Projects including:-
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
Coordinate project management activities, estimating and tracking Cost, Time and Resources
Liaise with clients to identify and define business case, requirements, scope and objectives
Assign tasks to internal teams and assist with schedule management
Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise
Use tools to monitor working hours, plans and expenditures
Documentation - prepare project (non-technical) reports for stakeholders, including for the R&D tax incentive government grant.
The right person will have:
Good English and communication skills
Good all-round computer skills (MS products etc)
5 years' experience in project co-ordinator, project assistant or project management roles.
5 years' experience in an agile environment, in managing or tracking resource-constrained projects in software and engineering, or some kind of consulting role (construction projects experience is not suitable for this role).
Experience in project management, from conception to delivery
Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
Strong client-facing and teamwork skill
Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Plans (formerly Advanced Roadmap, formerly Portfolio), Confluence)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner or similar tools
Certification in a recognised project management methodology e.g. PMBOK, PRINCE2 or Agile
Bonus points will be awarded for:
Any additional seniority is beneficial, for example someone with experience as a project manager will be ranked more highly than someone with only experience as an assistant.
Working with engineers, programmers, developers etc.
Experience working as an engineer in electronics, mechanical, firmware or software (so long as the project management background is also met).
