Responsibilities
The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding:
1. Budget and project spend monitoring
2. Change order tracking
3. Request for payment preparation
4. Capital call monitoring
5. Preparation of monthly financial reports and any other duties related to the project.
Closely coordinate with BD, OCTO, Accounting and Treasury to ensure that project costs are tracked on a timely and comprehensive basis.
Escalate any variations to the budget or any delays in securing internal approvals or in payment processing to the Corfin Financial Analyst.
Occasionally travel to project sites for job status review meetings. Transportation to these sites will be provided if needed.
Reports to the Controller.
Works with Project Owners to ensure that Purchase Orders, payment requests for invoices are prepared accurately and within assigned timeline.
Coordinate with Accounting and Treasury to ensure that endorsed invoices have proper approvals and paid within required timelines.
Collect project purchase order/invoice and payment documents and track these versus approved budget.
Generate tracking reports on Approved Project Costs compared with Committed Project Cost, Actual Project Cost, Pending Payments, Variation orders.
Other related duties as assigned or needed.
Coordinate the finance and accounting related functions for assigned projects.
Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department as it relates to project related expenses.
Ensure that requests for payments are prepared on time and approvals are secured in compliance with internal requirements.
Have an understanding of compliance requirements for assigned projects.
Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting
Minimum 3 years prior experience working as an accountant
Experience in the power/industry preferred
Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable and vendor payments
Above average Excel skills
Strong communication skills
Key competencies are Communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability
