Brief Description
Product Management Specialists manage the portfolio and growth of their particular product category. You are responsible for the overall movement, growth, and profitability of your product.
The successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, and creative. An entrepreneurial mindset will be critical in enhancing and growing their product category. They can connect the dots and are able to establish links from various data points, in order to propose programs and initiatives for their category.
A background in business management/administration, marketing, economics, or a culinary background would be a huge plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Head of Merchandising for the development of strategies and is in charge of the execution and fulfillment of these.
Is responsible for the overall profitability of a specific product category.
Conducts forecasting initiatives to ensure healthy supply lines for the business units, through regular coordination with local and international procurement teams.
Manages product category inventory and storage costs, such as establishing and revising re-order points.
Assists in the development and execution of programs for assigned category
Grows existing and emerging markets through horizontal expansion and new initiatives
Runs regular reports and analyses the data to monitor the movement of the company and the industry as a whole
Conducts client research/interviews and industry research to support the department's initiatives
Initiates price audit/programs and interacts with sales teams and their clients on a regular basis
Support in the preparation and deployment of technical training for other departments
Forecast and track key performance metrics (e.g. monthly sales results)
Keeps abreast of industry movements and trends for assigned category
Executes and contributes ideas to reach the goals of the category and the department
Attends and applies regular departmental trainings
Performs other similar tasks, as assigned
Qualifications
The candidate must possess the following:
Must have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Economics, Culinary background, or any related course
Highly proficient in computer programs such as spreadsheets, accounting software, ERP systems, and the like
Must have a firm grasp of the English language, both oral and written
Work experience in a related field/designation would be an advantage
Culinary skills and passion for food would be a plus

Product Management Specialists must be able to analyze multiple sets of data and synthesize all of it, to come up with the best strategy and action plan in order to move the product category forward
· Attention to Detail and Accuracy
Being a data-driven post, the Product Management Specialists ensure that all of the information that they gather, maintain, and use is up-to-date and accurate. They understand that the smallest errors can have a huge impact on the business as a whole.
· Resourcefulness and Research Skills
Members of the merchandising team have an impeccable way of getting the needed market information to fuel their financial models. Grit and creativity come into play, given the lack of documented information in the meat industry. Product Management Specialists can pull several data points from seemingly throw-away comments from clients and industry experts
· Project Management Skills
All actions of the Merchandising Team are essentially projects that aim to further develop or grow the category. Project Management skills are essential in making sure that plans are executed well, within the forecast budget, and on time.
· Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Merchandising will require the Specialists to be able to manage different kinds of people, both outside and inside the Company. They will be in charge of activities related to driving growth for their product category, which will entail constant engagement with people of different backgrounds - from internal business units to clients, suppliers, and industry experts.
