Key Responsibilities & Tasks
The Presales Expert is considered one of the most knowledgeable Presales persons on a given solution in the Market Unit they support. The Presales Solution Expert identifies, understands, and defines customer needs in order to build and deliver customer-specific product demonstrations and materials to win business and increase revenue. Provides additional support to account executives and conducts demonstrations for strategic purposes, including tradeshows and marketing events.
Deal Execution Tasks
Responsible for highly complex and visible presales and limited post-sales support of SAP and Partner solutions for the Office of the CFO (oCFO) in general, and in areas of Finance specialization.
Provides advanced-level functional expertise to own and execute complex product demonstrations for installed base and net new customers to provide proof of solution capability to customers.
Provides answers to customer / internal SAP team inquiries concerning advanced solution mapping focusing on driving customer success and business outcomes, considering SAP's differentiation with solution competitors.
Provides advisory to installed base customers on transitioning to the latest solutions and cloud architecture within areas of specialization.
Responds to customer RFPs in terms of solution compliance, write-ups and reviewing overall team responses as a senior member of the virtual account team.
Conduct demo system design, planning and build requirements as necessary for customer-specific POC scenarios. Augmentation with Solution Experience and Consultants are possible.
Acts as Deal Captain (lead solution architect) for finance-led customer transformation programs or business opportunities.
Supports SAP virtual account team members in building customer SAP roadmaps for finance solutions especially within specialization areas.
Able to navigate licence component mapping and optimization especially for installed base cloud conversions.
Support partner enablement sessions from a presales perspective as needed (solution, architecture, licensing).
Strategic Tasks:
Has broad knowledge of the SAP solution portfolio and the ability to cover discussions and provide a point of view across the SAP portfolio.
Has deep knowledge of the SAP oCFO solution portfolio to demonstrate many/all products within at least one major solution area.
Has knowledge of multiple Industries and can provide Industry specific solutions insights and perspective to our customers
Quickly establishes oneself as the thought leader of the Virtual Account Team and fine tunes account strategy.
Guides team in creation of overall theme & competitive differentiation (value wedges)
Executes vigorous dry runs on strategic deals and customer engagements.
Effectively transitions engagement to implementation partner / Field Services
Is proactive in sharing their knowledge with Early Talent and the greater Presales community through Solution Hubs or other enterprise social media where collaboration takes place.
Actively contributes to the Solution HUB supporting the HUB leader on developing and sharing best practices
Business Development / Readiness Tasks:
Stays current on solution and industry updates in their domain leveraging SAP learning maps etc.
Maintains a close understanding and appreciation of competitive solutions.
Collaborate with the sales team to identify whitespace opportunities at accounts
Participate in one to many marketing events for specific industries or solution areas
Deliver business workshops to discover and identify business needs
Build close customer relationships
Account-Planning & Management Responsibilities
Support assessment of current customer solutions from SAP and potential areas of opportunity
Support development of initial point of view around customer initiatives
Experience & Educational Requirements
Experience & Language Requirements
8+ years of presales experience.
10+ years of solution specialist experience (or equivalent customer facing role) in SAP for Finance.
SAP delivery experience is an advantage, having gone through 5-10 project cycles implementing S/4HANA or EPM capabilities in design and configuration capacity.
SAP Support experience is an advantage, within the partner ecosystem or customer internal support organization in an end-user facing capacity.
Demonstrates 10+ successful engagements in leading SAP solutioning and adoption.
Expert knowledge/expertise on business processes and solution matching for finance in general and for specialization areas.
Experience in sales and sales processes is an advantage.
SAP Finance Specialization
Knowledge in specialization areas are highly desired and a strong advantage, in the following order of desirability:
EPM (Group Reporting, SAC Planning, BPC and/or non SAP EPM solutions)
Project Systems, Asset Accounting, Controlling
Real Estate Management and IFRS 16
