Position: PR & Communication Officer
 
Job Summary:
 
The PR & Communications Officer is responsible for conveying FEED the CHiLDREN’s key messages to the public in order to generate understanding and support.  Establishes & maintains FEED’s relations with the public by promoting the organization’s work through the use of all forms of communication channels and tools while creatively initiating ways to reach out and increase local and international potential partners. Links up with FEED-US PR, Communications, & Marketing and ensures FEED-Philippines’ compliance to the guidelines from FEED-US.  Provide support and have a closer participation with program in order to promote it’s services
 
Functions:
 
PR & Communications
Plans, develops and implements PR & Marketing strategy;
Builds awareness/ informs the public about FEED & its Programs using all forms of media & communications;
Links / coordinates with PR-OKC Team in terms of social media and other related activities;
Create public awareness of FEED program & activities;
Establish contacts/ linkages with local & national media  for advocacy and/or resource generation;
Meet with OKC-PR & Communications regularly for information, guidance, & support needs;
Makes sure that ‘compelling stories’ are submitted, validated, reviewed by him/her, by Admin and  & sign off by CD and  forwarded to OKC;
Assists in preparing, designing and packaging of reports- annual, monthly, donor reports, when needed;
Manages FEED social media account & engages with users on Facebook; Twitter and others
Represents the organization as a spokesperson, when requested;
Program
Monitor activities of the different areas and write articles for press releases, social media placement, newsletter and others
Accompanies POs and other staff for activity & joins some community activities, when possible;
Marketing
Takes a lead in initiating special program or events either for advocacy/ publicity and/ or fund raising;
Participates in developing & preparing project concept notes & proposal writing;
Prepares & supervises the production of organizational materials such brochures, printing of annual report, IEC materials, hand outs, photographs, videos  in coordination with Admin;
Admin
Submits monthly plan & reports to immediate supervisor & meets with PR Team (CD/ HR-ADMIN), when needed;
Recommends /drafts PR guidelines needed for Management discussion & approval;
Coordinates with Program Director to support Program, when needed;
Specific Tasks may involve some of the following:
Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone, email and social media;
Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports; stories from the field;
Devising and coordinating photo opportunities;
Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours;
Maintaining and updating information on the organization's website; social media sites such as FB;
Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities;
Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives;
Managing the PR aspect in case of a potential crisis situation.
Essential Qualifications and Attributes
Excellent knowledge and skills in computer software
Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
Adequate skills in report writing;
Team player & can relate well with others; 
Capacity to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities;
Demonstrate skills in diplomacy and tact;
Able to distinguish confidential information
Self-motivated;
Has high level of initiative & creativity;
Trustworthy; and
Willing to travel
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree on any of the ff:  Social Science, Social Work, Journalism/Mass Communications, Arts, Administration, or Development Management.
At least 2 years experience in program development & management, community organizing,  preferably with non-government organizations, advertising and/or marketing;
Good communication skills in both written and spoken English;
Ability to relate with all kinds of people and background especially with children, adolescents and youth;
Can work independently and proactively well under pressure and with a team;
Willing to work beyond the required daily time, when needed; 
Computer savvy.
