Job Description
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision
- Operate Sarbanes Oxley 404 tax controls and support related testing
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, including quarterly estimates
- Partner with business divisions and other departments within Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and financial statement balances
- Provide support in the review and analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings
- Work on special, cross-functional projects
- Build and update tax planning and tax analytic models
- Assist in the management of federal and state audits, including drafting responses to government inquires and analysis of audit work papers

Duties:
Assign Harmonized System (HS) codes for tariff on imported and exported automotive parts, steel and chemicals, production machineries and equipment, rubber and textile materials
Analyze and interpret World Customs Organization (WCO) Explanatory Notes and General Rules on Interpretation (GRI) for the Harmonized System on Commodity Description and Coding System to determine the correct Customs tariff code
Adhere, comply, and achieve performance metrics (KPIs, SLAs) from the business units and customers
Perform engineering research as required to identify adequate part information and description
Perform routine classification consistency reviews and quality reviews
Maintain and adhere to all desk procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Participate in team projects, innovation activities, design thinking, and, process improvements
Communicate status updates thru emails to internal clients, business units, and stakeholders
Prepare and draft technical position paper for automotive parts, machineries, equipment, raw materials, steel and chemicals to stakeholders and business units
Resolve issues and conduct meetings with suppliers, customers, and GM manufacturing departments
Provide cross trainings and coaching session to other analysts on technical matters and procedures
Give updates on operational matters to internal clients and/or GM leadership team
Able to explain in-depth knowledge and understanding the workflow and classification opinion in his/her field of specialization
Ability to speak and write in Portuguese is a must. Additional language skill is a plus.
Requirements:
Willing to work on mid shift and night shift
Must be Bachelor's degree holder, preferably in Engineering, Science, Finance, Accounting, International Trade
Must be interested in or have actual experience either in technical or vocational knowledge in automotive parts and its function, production machineries and equipment, steel and chemicals, rubber and textile, and raw materials
Knowledge and experience in understanding material safety data sheets (MSDS) and steel quality certificates and mill certificates for steel and chemical analysts
Must be proficient in using MS Office, particularly MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook and must be comfortable in navigating different type of application systems
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be proficient in English
Must possess strong analytical and research skills
Must be keen to details
Ability to read engineering drawings and design is a plus
Ability to speak and write in Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus
Knowledge about Customs administration and Customs legislation is an advantage
Willing to travel for knowledge transfer, if warranted
