THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International Philippines is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Specialist who will support the implementation of Plan International Philippines' influencing strategy and help deliver Plan International's national, regional, and global advocacy on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), UNCRC, CEDAW, Climate Change and COP 21, and other international commitments.
Further, as the Policy and Advocacy Specialist:
You will assist and coordinate with program teams in the development of position papers, statements, and necessary information and education materials for policy advocacy.
You will serve as the organization's point person in advocacy networks and in similar consortia.
You will identify advocacy opportunities and activities at the national and local levels, and coordinate with key actors to maximize their engagement.
You will coordinate with local partners to help sustain the advocacy efforts of trained youth advocates in their communities.
You will support the Influencing and Communications Team in influencing activities; content development and production; raising the awareness of the public and target actors about Plan International's work and securing their support and/or active involvement.
Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities covered by Plan International.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful in this role you will need among other things:
Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Development Communication,
Political Science, Public Administration, or any related course
Relevant experience in policy advocacy, and work with government agencies and civil society.
Relevant experience working with children and young people.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
Proven knowledge and experience in the use of various information, communication and technology tools.
Experience in INGO work is an advantage.
Applicants must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino national.
This role is primarily office based but will require fieldwork to various program areas.
