Job description:
Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrates effective communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrates flexibility as and when required.
Provides direct care to assigned patients
Takes medical history, summarizes data and states nursing diagnoses or patient care needs.
Observes and records signs, symptoms, and behavior including physiological and mental status of patients, presents the assessment of changes, the proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes.
Demonstrates the ability to assess patients understanding and compliance with instructions and health care teachings.
Explains the procedure well using common language and executes physicians' order if warranted or effectively communicate this to the member of the multidisciplinary team as well as provide reassurance in the patients especially in the pediatrics.
Obtain and interpret laboratory data, pathology reports when available, review of preparations and medication, pertinent vital signs including capillary blood glucose monitoring.
Discuss with patients and relatives the potential side effects of the contrast media or the radioactive pharmaceutical and what must be done after the procedure.
Assess patients' tolerability of the procedure and must obtain a secured consent on behalf of the medical team.
Obtain/ insert and remove IV punctures at different parts of the body observing the optimum level and quality of care.
Independently performs duties and assumes responsibility for care of the patients.
Monitors patient for any adverse reactions and ensures that the tubing, bandage and needle star in place for the entire duration of the procedure.
Reassess and document interventions and desired outcomes.
Facilitates the administration of the radioactive tracer thru a patent IV line, PORT-A-Cath, or central line, in accordance to the standards set by the PNRI practicing the ALARA radiation safety principle and document as required.
Monitors and ensures the safety of patients at all times.
Assist the RT's in contrast administration.
Performs specialist nursing procedures by assessing, planning and delivering care packages, working closely with other member of the health care team, including but is not limited to consultants/ fellow Radiology, Nuclear Medicine doctors, and Anesthesiologist in sedations.
Responsible for safe and secure storage and use of the radioactive pharmaceutical maintaining statuary records of.
Performs constancy check using BA 133 and Cs 137 on a daily basis with a dose calibrator and keeps a record thereof.
Monitor the area including patient lounges for any sign of radioactive contamination and directly inform the RSO and ARSO.
Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse
A graduate of BS Nursing
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians and hospital staff.
