Your role
In this role you will work with businesses of different sizes, in various industries as part of their payroll team, ensuring that their employees all get paid on time every time. Each business could have 1 employee, or up to 100. You will take ownership of the payroll workflow end-to-end for each client you support
Your core responsibilities -
Work directly with multiple businesses to process payroll in Xero
Communicate with employees and management on payroll related questions
Enter timesheets and process leave requests
Set up new employees in Xero
Calculate and pay termination payments, allowances, commissions, and bonuses
Learn and understand Australian awards and their impact on overtime, shift allowances, and superannuation
Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts such as PAYG or Superannuation
Stay up to date with Australian payroll requirements and changes to our industry
You are someone who -
Is comfortable having conversations with Australians and communicates clearly
Enjoy taking ownership of a process and have a 'get things done' attitude
Asks good questions to understand a problem, and like to solve issues proactively
Is curious by nature and loves learning and being challenged
Can manage your time effectively, and are calm under pressure
Helps others without being asked, and enjoy being part of a team
Likes building genuine relationships with others
What experience are we looking for?
3-5 years experience as a payroll officer, ideally in a BPO environment
Experience with payroll for Australian businesses
Working knowledge of payroll tax, PAYG, payment summaries, casual leave loading, and other Australian payroll compliance topics
