Role purpose
To act as an in-charge for the operation of over-all payroll matter. Oversee the work performed by Associate members of the team to ensure that the work done is in accordance with the Firm's policies and client's request.
Principal accountabilities
Serves as the subject matter expert in payroll, processes, systems, efficiencies, with strong leadership skills.
Works closely with payroll staff in identifying need for system revisions, formulating system requests and recommendations, analyzing post-implementation results of system changes.
Resolves payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
Monitors submissions of all approved timesheets and ensures valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
Supervises payroll specialists and provides guidance and support to the team to ensure payroll tasks are executed in accordance with defined payroll processes.
Supervises payroll specialists by assigning, reviewing, evaluating work, and providing training and guidance to ensure employee's complete work.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships within the organization.
Communicate ideas/opinions and information to the team and listen/respond to other team members views.
Manage, motivate, and provide guidance to staff.
Identify training needs and take ownership for the work of the team.
Be conscious of professional liability.
To assist manager in reviewing members' work as well as statements and reports.
Keep sensitive information confidential, and follow internal measures for financial security.
Identify ways to streamline accounting operations and ways to improve the department.
Any other task reasonably assigned to the staff member and within their skill set.
Educational and professional qualifications
Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
4-6 years of Post Qualification Experience
Work experienced in BPO industry is an advantage.
Excellent Customer/Client Service Skill
Excellent communication skills - both written and oral English
Proactive with staff and clients and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations and deadlines.
Well versed with various accounting software and applications used by different industry sectors and be comfortable in a computerized environment.
The ability to lead a team of staff.
The ability to identify the training needs of junior team members and provide constructive feedback and appraisals
The ability to prepare statutory accounts including consolidations
Represent the Firm in a professional manner at all times through punctuality, appearance and presentation
