Job Description
The Position
JOB PURPOSE
Health care is changing: Radical innovation, increased openness to change, increasing patient empowerment, multiple sources of medical information, and pressure on public spending. As a result of all these, the needs of our stakeholders continue to evolve.
The Patient Journey Partner (PJP) is at the center of the new Roche organization, reiterating our new and evolved role in society - from mostly offering world-class medicines towards much more partnering, innovating and leading health system transformation. By doing so the PJP will be directly accountable to deliver better outcomes for patients, their community, the ecosystem and the organization, faster.
The PJP is an empowered leader and the local face of Roche. She or he partners closely with all stakeholders directly touching the patient journey across Disease Areas gaining a deep understanding of their needs in order to connect Roche's capabilities to co-create meaningful solutions, customized based on the level of maturity of institutions. Moreover, the PJP will be working closely with system-level healthcare stakeholders such as policy makers, regulators and payers.
The PJP is a patient journey expert across therapy and disease areas, and is a patient journey strategy owner. She or he works together with other PJPs leveraging synergies across ecosystems.
The PJP demonstrates personal purpose around improving the healthcare ecosystem, both locally and for Roche more broadly. They think from an enterprise level, beyond boundaries and borders, in order to bring the best possible outcomes to both the local health environment, and more broadly, across Roche globally.
The PJP identifies shared purpose and value, co-creates solutions and co-implements them across ecosystems, indirectly impacting positive outcomes of patients.
By doing so, the PJP will be directly accountable to challenge and shape the healthcare system in service of better health outcomes for more patients faster in a sustainable way to society.
This role is locally embedded in the ecosystem, it is an integrated role, functionally agnostic, (i.e. it does not fit into the traditional concepts of Commercial/Sales or Medical Affairs).

JOB ROLE
The PJP is a senior level role within the affiliate, who has decision making authority to request resources of Roche (both within the affiliate and broader network) in order to have an improved impact on the patient journey.
The PJP acts as a trusted partner and is the primary point of contact for HCPs and medical societies in hospital institutions to partner with patient journey stakeholders to remove roadblocks and unlock possibilities to deliver value to patients and the community.
The PJP focuses on the importance of bringing the outside in, working with partners to uncover all potential opportunities to transform outcomes for patients, faster. They also bring the inside out, to bring Roche expertise, science and knowledge to the ecosystem. Generates insights from regular market and HCP engagements, including customer visits, market and data analytics, to identify gaps and opportunities, to translate to solutions.
S/he acts as a trusted partner and is the primary (but non-exclusive) point of contact between stakeholders and Roche.
The PJP shares the patient and stakeholder community needs internally to Roche, prioritizes and secures resources, and drives solutions that deliver outcomes faster.
The PJP is a strong contributor, and co-develops the disease and therapy area strategies of the affiliate.
S/he stewards Roche's products through their lifecycle and supports their appropriate use, which includes sharing their merits with HCPs in a truthful and balanced manner.
The PJP will help drive PHC and works with HSPs for enablement. One Roche is his/her mindset and is a must-win.
By overseeing the patient journey in its entirety, the PJP acts as a system thinker with the ability to identify shared purpose among stakeholders and leverages this to co-create solutions with stakeholders in the ecosystem.
Works with key stakeholders to unlock possibilities for patients across the best solutions (i.e. Roche products and treatments, One Roche integrated solutions, accessibility and availability of products, PSPs, among others).
Connects ecosystem stakeholders to help them make faster and better treatment decisions and ensures regular engagement with identified priority stakeholders.
The role is empowered to pull in expertise and resources locally and from the network as needed, including in collaboration with other PJPs and HSPs, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.
Ensures great experiences whenever stakeholders in the ecosystem engage with Roche employees, products and services.
Accountable for delivering outcomes in therapeutic areas within the ecosystem.
S/he will help drive open key accounts and help list Roche products in the institution's formulary (when necessary).
The PJP partners with healthcare system stakeholders to drive healthcare system innovation and unlock possibilities to deliver value for the ecosystem and society.
As part of this, the PJP contributes to identifying, mapping, engaging and managing ecosystem stakeholders.
The PJP acts as trusted partner and the primary (but non-exclusive) point of contact between stakeholders and Roche. She or he shares the stakeholder community vision and value internally, prioritizes and secures resources, and drives solutions that deliver outcomes faster.
The PJP lives the Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst (VACC) model, acts as catalyst and coach externally and internally.
The role is empowered to pull in expertise and resources locally and from the network as needed, including in collaboration with Health System Partners and other Patient Journey Partners.
The PJP looks across the individual ecosystem and catalyzes our ability to see broader trends and patterns in healthcare systems. They need to bring outside insights into Roche to influence strategy and to bring our expertise, science and knowledge out to the ecosystem.
