Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated NOC Tier 1 Engineer with expertise in Metro Ethernet technologies. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and maintaining the health of the network infrastructure, providing excellent customer support, and contributing to the overall success of the Network Operations Center.

Responsibilities:
Troubleshoots layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3 issues. Works with field engineers, other providers to achieve maximum network uptime and swift resolution of all issues.
Perform network support, hardware configuration and validation of network related devices such as xDSL modems, network interface devices, Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, firewalls, routers, VoIP, and analog voice services will be required on a daily basis.
Monitor metro Ethernet networks to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
Analyze network alerts and take proactive measures to address potential issues.
Serve as the initial point of contact for customers reporting network-related issues.
Provide timely and effective Tier 1 support, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Log and track incidents, documenting all relevant information and steps taken.
Escalate issues to higher-tier support or other teams when necessary, ensuring timely resolution.
Maintain clear and concise communication with customers, colleagues, and other teams.
Keep customers informed about the status of their reported issues.
Create and update documentation related to network configurations, procedures, and issue resolutions.
Contribute to the knowledge base for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with network engineers and other departments to resolve complex issues.
Participate in team meetings and share insights to improve overall network performance.
Qualifications:
Degree in IT, Engineering, Computer science, Information Systems, or any related area of study with direct NOC experience.
Proficiency in troubleshooting metro Ethernet networks, including familiarity with Ethernet over MPLS and related technologies.
Knowledge in Juniper and Nokia products.
Ability to identify and analyze problems swiftly on Juniper equipment from layer 1 to layer 3 is absolutely key.
Technical Expertise: Routing, Switching for Juniper.
JNCIP or JNCIS or higher is a plus.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools and technologies.
Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
Knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting practices. Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Radius server, OSI Model, IPv4/6 addressing, TCP/IP, DNS, MPLS/VPLS, BGP, EIGRP, SNMP, and utilities such as ping, traceroute, mtr, and telnet.
Experience supporting a network of systems.
Experience contacting network carriers to report circuit outages.
Experience configuring and supporting Firewalls a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking, analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize & customer-oriented
