As a member of our Data Protection group, the Backup Analyst plays a critical and important role in the day to day operational support of Operations and Application Development and External Managed Customers existing backup infrastructure. The Backup Analyst will help manage and grow an enterprise-class storage and backup environment of over 7 Peta bytes. As a key member of the Backup Operations team, they ll provide day to day support, incident/problem management, and data retention solutions to enable the significant growth of TELUS s storage infrastructure while driving down our total cost of ownership. Required Knowledge - Sound experience in developing and documenting technology orientations and solutions - Experience with the deployment of enterprise solutions in a global enterprise - Strong understanding of technologies and marketplace in storage systems and their management, and service level measurement - Strong knowledge of Veritas Netbackup 7.x backup solutions for data backup and recovery. - Must have intermediate to advanced level experience working with various operating systems in physical and virtualized environments such as VMWare, Cisco UCS and IBM p-Series hardware - Must have working knowledge of AIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows operating environment, at least at the Intermediate System Administrator level. - Knowledge of NetBackup using RMAN, SSO, OST, AIR, vADP and Accelerator configuration will be required. - Knowledge of Data Domain using RMAN and DDBOOST is required. - Knowledge of supporting Tape solutions is required. - Knowledge in operating large backup infrastructures. - Excellent written and oral communication - Familiar with ITIL based problem and change management - Sun Solaris experience would be an asset - Experience with large director class Fibre Channel switches (Brocade, McDATA, CISCO MDS) would be an asset. Required Skills and Abilities - Troubleshooting OS, hardware, network, storage, SAN, and Backup application problems - Troubleshooting large, complex multi-vendor environments - Handling multiple tasks efficiently and work on a wide range of systems - Ability to go on call. Professional Designation/Certificate - University degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience will be an asset. - Certification in one of the following will be an asset: - Veritas Netbackup Administration - Brocade Certification Required Experience - 3-4 year(s) in Enterprise level Storage and Backup Administration
