Job Description
CORE FUNCTION:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchant Operations and Risk Management Head to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our merchant operations, ensuring smooth payment processing, streamlining underwriting and onboarding processes and minimizing overall risk associated with our merchant services. This role requires a deep understanding of payment processing systems, risk management techniques, and exceptional analytical skills. The Merchant Operations and Risk Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and maintain a secure and efficient merchant environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement strategies to enhance merchant operations, streamline payment processes, and improve overall efficiency.
Oversee the merchant onboarding process, including due diligence, underwriting, and account setup.
Conduct risk assessments of potential and existing merchants to identify potential fraud, financial risks, or compliance issues.
Manage and monitor merchant accounts to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and payment network rules.
Establish and maintain relationships with payment processors, acquirers, and other third-party service providers.
Analyze transactional data and patterns to identify and mitigate potential risks, fraud, or suspicious activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and compliance, to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance (AMLC, BPS, etc.).
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to merchant operations, risk management, and fraud prevention.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact merchant operations and risk management.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate merchants on risk management best practices, fraud prevention, and compliance requirements.
Investigate and resolve merchant disputes, chargebacks, and other payment-related issues in a timely manner.
Implement and maintain fraud detection and prevention tools, technologies, and processes.
JOB QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. A master's degree is a bonus.
Proven work experience in merchant operations, risk management, or a similar role within the payment industry.
In-depth knowledge of payment processing systems, payment networks, and merchant acquiring processes.
Strong understanding of risk management techniques, fraud prevention strategies, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and identify trends or patterns.
Experience in developing and implementing risk management policies, procedures, and controls.
Familiarity with payment industry regulations such as PCI DSS, PSD2, and GDPR is a bonus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in using risk management tools, fraud detection systems, and data analytics software.
Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Familiarity with local regulatory requirements of AMLC, BSP and other entities.
