ICMA is seeking qualified and dedicated candidates for the position:
 
MEDICAL SAFETY OFFICER
Based in Makati City
 
JOB PURPOSE:
The Medical Safety Officer is responsible for the occupational safety and health of SURGE staff in the workplace. The Medical Safety Officer will ensure the project remain consistent with the guidelines of DOLE and DTI on workplace prevention and control of COVID 19, as well as share best practice techniques. You will work under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager.
 
SCOPE OF WORK
The Medical Safety Officer will:
• Ensure safety and health standard are practice and implemented with The SURGE Project workplace;
• Standardize and stay updated with the latest trends in health and safety, and consistently implement these practices in the workplace;
• Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure that every member of staff complies with the regulated standards mandated by the government;
• Implement mandated safety programs such as ensure accomplishing the Health Declaration Form (Annex A-1 of JOINT-MEMORANDUM-CIRCULAR-NO-20-04-A-S2020);
• Monitor and screen the accomplished form and perform a temperature check (ANNEX B of JOINT-MEMORANDUM-CIRCULAR-NO-20-04-A-S-2020);
• Conduct regular staff sessions to practice safe working and share best practice techniques such as facilitate webinars, virtual lectures, and training on COVID-19, its prevention and control, including best practices;
• Standardize health and safety to remain consistent with government mandates and guidelines on workplace prevention and control of COVID 19;
• Support the HR manager in the implementation of occupational safety and health program, and ensure that it is following the provisions of OSH standards;
• Promote safety initiatives, compile and maintain relevant information and registers to ensure compliance with the government under Republic Act No. 11058, its IRR, and DOLE Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018 which took effect on January 25, 2019;
• Document staff information, minutes of meetings, and reports compiled for management and government agencies;
• Regularly inspect the workplace of the SURGE Project;
• Administer first aid response to employees and prescribe remedial medical care and attends the emergency need. If needed for hospitalization, you will be responsible to refer, and accompany the patient as well;
• Responsible in conducting a regular inventory of medicines, ensure availability of first aid and prepares purchase requests for health and wellness-related materials/ supplies/ equipment;
• Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for someone with a degree in the medical field, licensed Medical Professional, or another related course. You must have experience of at least three (3) years of work in occupational safety and health or related field in a government agency, non-government organization, donor institution, or private organization. Experience in Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSH). Experience in facilitating webinars, virtual lectures and training on COVID-19, its prevention and control, including best practices. Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety is an advantage. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics. Working knowledge of safety management information system. Ability to work in a systematic and organized manner with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate, written and orally, in English and Tagalog. Proficiency in office software applications is needed. You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Respect for confidentiality, highly organized, and detail-oriented. Possesses strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to accept feedback and work with a team.
