As an Medical Director you will be responsible for ensuring adequate therapy area input, maximized leveraging of existing Medical platforms, and aligned implementation of Medical Affairs processes and initiatives across the Medical organization.

Job Purpose
To provide strategic support to the management team for vaccine business
Develops and maintains a high level of technical expertise in relation to vaccines / immunization
To ensure vaccine-related medical governance in support of the Medical Governance Officer
To provide vaccine-related medical input into all LOC activities
To manage a team of Medical Affairs managers, MSLs responsible for vaccine-related medical affairs
To interface effectively with regional and global colleagues
To plan, implement, coordinate health economic and epidemiological studies
T o act as the local medical lead and/or provide local medical oversight for GSK sponsored Phase I-IV clinical studies and selected GSK sponsored EPI studies allocated in the country
To be responsible for timely and appropriate communication of clinical study results, including presentation and publication, in compliance with disclosure requirements
To provide strategic input in the evidence generation to support Vaccines business in Philippines
Key Responsibilities
1. Scientific Communications
Conducts internal and external scientific presentations related to GSK vaccines
Conducts scientific engagement with public health authorities in collaboration where appropriate with government affairs
Assists in the preparation and submission of local clinical trial reports, manuscripts for publication and abstracts for meetings and conferences
Supports investigators and their presentations at selected conferences
2. Medical Affairs
Serves as the primary local medical spokesperson for GSK Vaccines in interactions with governments, advisory bodies, health organizations and professionals, mass media, and the public
Provides strong technical, medical substance and depth to GSK Vaccines interactions with government
Develops and positively reinforces the external scientific standing and credibility of GSK Vaccines among health officials and policy/advisory bodies
3. Medical Input to LOC Activities
Contributes to vaccine-related issues management, including interactions with external experts, regulatory authorities, medical organizations, and the public
Provides expert medical input for all LOC vaccine-related functions
Provides Vaccines with medical input for strategic marketing planning
Participates in Clinical / Commercial / Regulatory (CCR ) meetings and inter-departmental cooperation in relation to vaccines
Supports all new vaccines launches
Contributes to the development, organization, and implementation of vaccine product, safety, and other relevant training activities
Responsible for medical review and approval of local materials and responses to challenges according to SOPs, national and international standards
4. Clinical R&D
Act as the local medical lead and/or provide local medical oversight for GSK sponsored Phase I-IV clinical studies and selected GSK sponsored EPI studies allocated in the country. Alternatively the MD may nominate other qualified medical staff in the team as the LML if he/she is adequately trained
Liaises closely with and supports GSK Vaccines headquarters in the implementation and completion of phase 1 - 4 studies, PMS, and epidemiological projects
Reviews and provides medical approval of all research reports and future publications, when required
5. Medical Governance
Serves as the ethical guardian for GSK Vaccines in country
Ensures the highest standards of medical and scientific accuracy in all vaccine-related communications, including with health care professionals, government, advisory bodies, mass media, and members of the public
6. Local Study Activities
Plans and conducts epidemiological studies related to vaccine pipeline and existing products to support Medical Affairs activities
Plans and conducts health economic studies in relevant vaccines to support government tender and private market
Ensures local vaccine clinical / epidemiological / health economic studies meet the required standards of GCP / GSK SOPs, including approval by the relevant GSK central body
Prepares, reviews, and approves local study manuscripts for publication and abstracts for meetings and conferences
7. Regulatory Support
Provides medical input into all vaccine-related regulatory submissions
Provides proactive medical input into all vaccine-related regulatory issues
Develops effective communications and good working relationships with regulatory authorities, always in conjunction with Regulatory Affairs
8. Regional / Global Activities
Participates as directed in regional and global Vaccines processes and activities
Develops and maintains effective interactions with Vaccines AP regional and country staff
Develops and maintains effective interaction with Vaccines central groups and individuals
9. General
Develops and maintains a high level of technical expertise in relation to vaccines / immunization
Contribute to LOC management processes/activities as appropriate
Maintains professional competence and credibility through keeping abreast of the scientific literature, participation in meetings, training, external networking, and selected external clinical / public health engagements as agreed

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Minimum three (3) years practical medical experience
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in pharmaceutical industry with expertise in infectious diseases, vaccines development, epidemiology, or public health
People management experience preferred
Special knowledge and interest in infectious diseases
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
MBA
Excellent understanding of medical functions and medical affairs activities
Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills
Ability to develop relationships based upon trust and mutual respect
