The Medical Coding Manager supervises Medical Coding teams led by Medical Coding Team Leaders. The duties primarily center in developing and implementing policies for the coding department. The Medical Coding Manager coordinates with other departments and team leads to ensure that coding data is secure and available to authorized personnel only. This person will serve as a leader and role model for the coding team by displaying a positive patient-centered and solution-oriented approach and attitude.
Duties
Manage workflow for coding team processes including production coding, quality control, and support services;
Oversee staffing and ensure appropriate resource delegation to meet corporate goals;
Responsible for daily reporting to US based Department Manager;
Prepare for meetings with Management including preparation of daily/weekly trend analysis;
Lead weekly meetings with staff;
Track, report and monitor educational opportunities for providers and coders;
Oversee ongoing Quality Improvement Initiatives;
Support staff in preparing, conducting and monitoring results of on the job training and inservices as required to remain current on coding issues
Accurately oversee that team is following coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies;
Maintains compliance standards in accordance with Compliance policies and the Code of Conduct and reports compliance problems appropriately;
Monitor and report technical issues;
Work with Management team on opportunities for system, staff and workflow improvement;
Directly reports to US based Department Manager.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Management, Leadership or similar area.
Preferred a BS in Nursing, Healthcare or similar area;
With CPC certification from AAPC or AHIMA;
Minimum 2 years of Management experience; or 2 years as an Assistant Manager
Minimum 2 years managing a team of 25 or more staff (that can be verified);
Experience working and interfacing virtually with US entity in management capacity;
Experience with Process Management;
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access);
Strong relational and social skills;
Intermediate level of Analytics experience;
Skills
Ability to use organizational and time management skills to improve efficiency;
Ability to prepare and implement training material for staff;
Ability to understand and implement Philippine Labor Code;
Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills;
Understand, delegate and carry out verbal and written direction;
Ability to manage department in the absence of direct supervision from US based Department Manager;
Ability to research topics related to job outside of normal business hours to assist department;
Ability to work in an office setting for minimum of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
